Selected scholars receive financial support toward their studies and living expenses, together with insurance and travel assistance. The University of Freiburg first evaluates applications and nominates suitable candidates, after which DAAD conducts its own review and makes the final scholarship decisions.

Eligibility Criteria

• Hold an academic degree that is no more than six years old at the time of application.
• Have at least two years of relevant professional experience gained after completing a Bachelor’s degree.
• Have an academic qualification with results in the upper third or equivalent above-average performance.
• Internships and voluntary work do not count toward the required professional experience.
• Applicants should not have lived in Germany for more than 15 months before applying.
• Meet the academic and admission requirements of the Master’s in Environmental Governance programme.

• Detailed motivation letter explaining academic, professional, and personal reasons for applying.

• Recent proof of language proficiency.
• Copies of higher education degree certificates.
• Certified translations of certificates not issued in German or English.
