The Light and Bells Health Foundation Scholarship is an opportunity for African undergraduate students pursuing medical and health-related programmes at accredited government-owned institutions. The scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to students as they continue their university education.
The programme offers different categories of tuition support for students studying Medicine, Nursing and other allied health disciplines. Students at any level of their undergraduate studies may apply if they meet the eligibility requirements.
Selected applicants will receive financial support valued at $100, approximately ₦135,000. The 2026 programme provides six awards across three scholarship categories, supporting students in different areas of healthcare.
About the Scholarship
The Light and Bells Health Foundation (LBHF) was established to contribute to improved health awareness, education and healthcare development across Africa. The foundation was officially registered in November 2024 and launched in January 2025.
Through its scholarship programme, the foundation seeks to support the next generation of healthcare professionals by providing financial assistance to students studying medical and allied health programmes at government-owned institutions.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive a $100 award, approximately ₦135,000, to help with educational expenses.
The scholarship is offered through three tuition-support categories:
- G&G Tuition Support/Assistance Scholarship: Two awards for students studying Medicine (MBBS/MD) at a government institution.
- JSI Tuition Support/Assistance Scholarship: Two awards for students studying Nursing, including B.N.Sc, HND or BSN programmes.
- Vision Tuition Support/Assistance Scholarship: Two awards for students studying allied health programmes such as Pharmacy, Physical Therapy and Public Health.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be citizens of an African country.
- Be enrolled in an accredited government-owned institution.
- Be studying a medical or health-related programme.
- Be enrolled at any level of their undergraduate programme.
Eligible programmes include:
- Medicine
- Nursing
- Pharmacy
- Physical Therapy
- Medical Laboratory Science
- Public Health
- Other related healthcare programmes
Required Documents
Applicants should prepare the following documents:
- Academic transcripts: Complete academic records covering every year of study. The documents must be genuine and must not be altered or falsified.
- Recommendation letter: A recent recommendation letter from a verifiable academic staff member in the applicant's department, college or university. It should be addressed to the Light and Bells Health Foundation.
- O-Level results
Applicants are required to combine the necessary documents into one PDF file and include their full name as required by the application instructions.
