Introduction

The University of Lausanne (UNIL) Masters Scholarship provides financial support to outstanding international students who wish to pursue a Master's degree in Switzerland. About the Scholarship

The University of Lausanne (UNIL) offers a number of scholarships each year to outstanding international students seeking to pursue a Master's degree at the university in Switzerland. The scholarship provides CHF 1,600 per month from September 15 to July 15, equivalent to CHF 19,200 per year.

The scholarship is available for the full duration of the Master's programme, which may last one and a half to two years depending on the programme. Recipients are exempt from fixed registration fees for their courses, although they must still pay the CHF 80 fee per semester. The scholarship amount may not be sufficient to cover the full cost of living in Switzerland.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Hold a foreign university degree considered equivalent to a Bachelor's degree at UNIL before the beginning of the Master's programme.
  • Have distinguished themselves academically, particularly through excellent academic results.
  • Have a language level of at least B2 in French or C1 in English, according to the language in which the chosen Master's programme is taught.
  • Not have been previously registered with UNIL.
  • Pay the CHF 200 administration fee required for the application.
  • Submit a complete application.

Important: Withdrawal from the Master's programme will result in suspension of the scholarship award.

Scholarship Timeline

  • November 1: Application deadline.
  • November–December: Applications are processed by the relevant university offices.
  • December–January: Applicants whose files are incomplete or whose admission has not been accepted are informed.
  • January–February: Complete applications are forwarded to faculties for eligibility consideration.
  • February–March: Applicants whose Master's admission is unsuccessful are informed.
  • March: The selection board selects scholarship recipients.
  • Early April: Applicants are informed of the selection decision.

Important: Selection decisions cannot be appealed.
