Swansea University is offering a fully funded international PhD research scholarship through its Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science in collaboration with Houston Methodist’s Neal Cancer Center.

About the Scholarship

The research project focuses on next-generation nanobody engineering for precision targeting in ovarian cancer. It will investigate how engineered nanobodies could overcome biological and physical barriers that limit antibody-based treatments for solid tumours.

The research will be supervised by Professor Deya Gonzalez of Swansea University and Professor Chih-Chi Andrew Hu of the Neal Cancer Center. Successful candidates can begin the research programme in either October 2026 or January 2027.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a UK or international applicant.
  • Must have achieved or expect to achieve a First-Class UK undergraduate degree or equivalent international qualification.
  • Applicants with a 2:1 undergraduate degree must also have a Distinction in a UK Master's degree or equivalent international qualification.
  • Must have an IELTS overall score of 6.5, with no individual component below 6.5, or a Swansea University-recognised equivalent.
