About the Scholarship

The MINDS Scholarship for Leadership Development is designed for African students who want to pursue postgraduate studies at selected universities in an African country other than their own country of citizenship or residence. The programme provides financial assistance while developing leadership abilities that can support stronger cooperation and development across the continent.

Eligible applicants can choose from selected institutions across East, Southern, North, and West Africa, including universities in Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Kenya, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritius, and other participating countries. Applicants must obtain admission to an approved MINDS preferred institution before applying for the scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a citizen of an African country and reside in Africa.

  • Be accepted to begin a postgraduate program within the following academic year.
  • Have achieved at least 70% in every subject or course during the last two completed years of study.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability or leadership potential.
  • Show commitment to the development of the African continent.
  • Complete and submit the online scholarship application with all required supporting documents.

Required Documents

  • Passport data or biographical page.
  • Certified academic transcript or results slip covering the last two years of study.
  • Official university admission or acceptance letter.
  • Valid study permit or visa, or evidence that an application has been submitted, if available.
  • Detailed CV or résumé of no more than four single-sided pages.
  • Two reference letters, each no longer than three pages, addressing leadership potential, integrity, competence, and commitment to African development.
