EAC Student Mobility Scholarship Scheme 2026/27

Introduction

The 2026/27 Inter-University EAC Student Mobility Scheme is a regional scholarship programme designed to promote student exchange across the East African Community. It supports eligible students to pursue studies at universities in an EAC Partner State other than their own.

The programme promotes regional integration through shared learning while providing selected candidates with support for study and living expenses, travel, and accommodation.

About the Scholarship

The EAC Student Mobility Scholarship Scheme is a regional programme under the Inter-University Council for East Africa designed to promote student mobility and academic exchange among EAC Partner States. The scheme enables students to pursue eligible programmes at universities in an EAC Partner State other than their own.

Through the programme, selected students can gain access to academic opportunities in another EAC Partner State while receiving support for major study and living-related costs. The scheme is intended to strengthen regional integration through education and shared learning.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a national and resident of an EAC Partner State.
  • Provide proof of nationality such as a national ID, passport, or birth certificate.
  • Apply to an eligible programme at a university in a country other than your own.
  • Meet the admission requirements of the chosen university.
  • Demonstrate excellent academic performance according to the host programme's entry requirements.
  • Have an Upper Second-Class Honours, Distinction, or equivalent qualification for Master's and PhD applicants.
  • Be below 35 years of age for Master's applicants.
  • Be below 45 years of age for PhD applicants.
  • Have relevant work experience, which is an added advantage for PhD applicants.

  • Completed application form.
  • Letter of motivation for the scholarship.
  • Up-to-date and signed Curriculum Vitae.
  • Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts.
  • Copy of the university application form and its attachments.
  • Recent passport-size colour photograph.
  • Evidence of nationality of an EAC Partner State.
  • Proof of residency.
  • Evidence of awards, leadership, or community service.
  • Any other supporting documents, such as medical reports or letters of reference.
